The culture of Indonesia has been shaped by long interasction between original indigenous customs and multiple foreign influences indonesia is centrally located along acient tranding routes between the far east. resultimg in many cultural practices being strongly influenced by a multititude of religion including hinduism buddhism confucianism, islam and chrstianity, all strong in the major trading cities. the result is a complex cultural mixture very different from the original inddigenous cultures..
exmples of cultural fusion include the fusion of islam whit hindu in javanese abangan belief, the fusion of Hiduism, buddhism and animism in bodha, and the fusion of Hindusm and animism in Kaharingan, other could be cited.
Balinese dances have stories about acient Buddhist and Hindu Kingdoms, while Islamic art forms and archicture are present in sumatra, especially in the minangkabau and aceh regions.Traditional art, music and spor are combined in martial art form called pencak silat.
western culture has gretly influenced indonesia in science, teknology and modern entertainment such as television shows, flim and music, as well as political system and issues. india has song the indian rhythmical dangdut, wich is often mixed with Arab and Malay folk music.
Despte the inflences of freign culture, some remote indonesian region s still preserve uniquely indigenous culture, indigenous etnic group mentawai, Asmat , Dani Dayak Toraja and many other are stll practicing ther ethnic rituals, customs and wering traditional clothes.
